Psystar Mac Clones

There has been a lot of controversy as to whether or not the Psystar OpenPro Mac clone is real or not. Will it actually make it to the market or will Apple squash the idea. One person actually provided a video of their machine booting into Leopard. Now this is a cheap alternative to buying a Mac system but it is very far from a suggestion on my part. After watching this video and reading what I have about these machines I would never suggest that anyone buy one of these machines.

The sounds that come from this machine are hilarious. The fans make the system sound like a vacuum cleaner. Now there are some benefits to getting a machine like this. It is cheaper than buying a mac system, however you will not get any support from Apple. Now let’s weigh out the cons.

Review: Handbrake & MetaX

Since I bought my first Apple TV a while back I have been using a few applications to convert my DVD collection to a digital format. I do not know about you but I really got sick of searching through 300+ DVD movies to find what I wanted to watch.

Review: Hunt Valley Marriott

Through my lifetime I have had to stay in quite a few different hotels. Recently work has been calling me down to Timonium, MD and they have been putting me up in the Hunt Valley Marriott. I must say that this is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. Upon check-in I was greeted by very courteous staff who were set out to do anything they could to make your stay enjoyable.

However cost comes with the nice decor. The room I have been staying in have been around $220 per night. The bedding is some of the best I have seen. They have down comforters on every bed, nice fluffy pillows and the mattresses are very comfortable. The room I am staying in even has a flat panel LCD tv which is very nice.

Review: Qdoba Mexican Grill

Qdoba: Mexican GrillThis week I am down in Timonium, MD for work. I thought I would take a few minutes to review a restaurant that is close to work. On a lunch break you cannot get very far without a car so it is really convenient to have this almost next door.

During my first visit the guys brought me over to Qdoba for lunch. I was hungry and usually a burrito is small so I ordered one chicken and one steak. That was a mistake. The burritos at Qdoba are pretty large and one would fill up just about anyone. My favorite item there would have to be the chicken burrito, but I have also tried the Mexican Gumbo which is really good.

If you are in the area of one of these restaurant’s I would highly suggest that you stop in for a meal. The food is great but the service was just as good. I was actually surprised at how good the service was for a restaurant like this.

Super Mario with JavaScript

Most of us can remember the days of the Nintendo first coming out on the market. The best game in the world back then was Super Mario Brothers. I remember playing this game when I was a kid. I played it so much that I was even able to beat the game using only one life and not using warp zones. I also did not just skip by everything and just run to the end. I took my time killed all the bad guys and got almost all of the secret stuff such as mushrooms that would make you big, stars, etc.

This morning I stumbled across something that I found to be really cool. A web based version of the game that was written completely in JavaScript. The uncompressed size is 35kb and the compressed version is only 14kb. Now this is not the complete game and a lot of stuff is missing however they created this as a challenge to see if it could be done solely in JavaScript and just how small they could make the file. Everything on this is done in JavaScript. They even embedded the music as base 64 encoded data into the file. All images etc are generated with JavaScript which is actually really cool. Personally I think the guys who developed this did a really good job. Be sure to try out the game. You can find it by going to their blog post.

I had no idea you could do things like this with JavaScript and it makes me want to start looking into the language. What else could you do if you can generate something like this? Do you know of other cool things like this done with JavaScript? Please feel free to share them in the comments.

Upgraded to Wordpress 2.5

Over the last few days I took some time and updated my theme so that I could use the latest Wordpress 2.5. I love the new features that come with it and love the administration interface overhaul. The Wordpress team has really been hard at work. For this I must say Thank You! It would take far more time than I have right now to write my own custom site and I love the fact that Wordpress is so easy to use.

Review: Liarcard.com

Liarcard LogoA while back I heard about a site called liarcard.com, this site stated that they had voice analysis software that was initially developed for security purposes. It is now available to the public and they state that they are over 95% accurate. I decided to try out this service tonight with my girlfriend. We were asking all sorts of questions and answering them differently each time. I have to say that this has to be a total waste of money. When I was asking questions I asked what her favorite color was. She answered with pink and it said she was honest. Later in the conversation I asked the question again and she said orange… Guess what? She was truthful again. At once point during the conversation I asked what time it was, she stated the correct time and it buzzed saying that she was lying.
