New PHP User Group

If you are from the Albany, NY surrounding area you might be happy to hear that Albany PHP has opened it’s doors. They seem to be really new and so the user base is still small, however I feel that no matter how small the group there is always a wealth of information that you can pick from them. Head on over whether you are local or not and take part on the forums.

I am also a proud member of the NY PHP User Group and remain to be a member there. I will always venture down as many avenues as possible, that’s the only way to gain exposure for yourself, help as many people as possible and even get help in the times you need it.

This is great contribution from Edward Prevost for the PHP community and I look forward to being part of this community.

Jobs vs. Gates

Today I was browsing around YouTube and I came across this video. I will warn you it has some strong language and sexual reference. If you are offended by that do not watch this video. I personally found this to be very humerus and enjoyable.

I espacially like the Finder song and the ending apologies lol, what do you think?  The author of this video is very talented and I would love to see more of their work.

PayPerPost: ReviewMyPost

Recently I signed up for PayPerPost.com which allows me to post about sponsored content and be paid for a post on my site. I have opted to take this route rather than throwing advertisements on my site and forcing you to look at them. If I make a post on my site and you do not want to see it, you just don’t read it. If you would like to advertise across blogs and have people review your products or services you might want to look into blog ads. If you are not aware of what PayPerPost is, you should take a look. You can get paid for writing content about sponsors. You do not have to post anything you choose what you want to write about and what you do not. The prices for the opportunities range from $5 - $1000. Obviously the really big one’s will require you to have a PR of 7+ however work your way up the ladder. You can currently take 3 opportunities per day so if you get 3 $10 opportunities per day you are looking at $900 per month in income.

PayPerPost has a new program called ReviewMyPost and if you click on the title of any post on this site you will see a link for ReviewMyPost. It is another method that I can make money and YOU can make money as well. All you have to do is click one of the links, review my post (on your blog) and you will be paid as well. You might be asking what you will be paid to review a post on my site. PayPerPost will pay you $7.50 to review any of the posts on my site even if they are not sponsored content. They will also add $7.50 to my account.

This program is great, it will allow you to review other people’s posts and get paid to pretty much link to others on the net. Once you are a PayPerPost member you can add these badges to all of your posts and you too will be able to get paid when someone reviews one of your posts. I also see this as a great way to help your Google PR because you are going to get a ton of links to your site. This program also makes it possible for people to make money even if they do not wish to place sponsored content on their website.

I love this program PPP let’s keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing what you offer in the future.

New Job Opportunities

Over the last few weeks I have been approached with a few options for jobs. I have been offered six figures to work from home as a PHP developer from different companies. I have decided that I will be joining ERE to bring their company forward and into a LAMP environment. ERE is a trade publication company who are currently using ASP 3.0 with MS SQL. It was a tough decision but what ERE offers sounds great and I look forward to working with them for a long time. They are offering “stability” which is really what I need right now. The other company wanted to pay me as a contractor and I could be my own boss but they are a start-up (in a sense, they have been around for 5 years) and chances are they will be around in a year but there are no gurantee’s.

I have enjoyed working at eFashion Solutions and wish them all the best of luck. They have a really great IT staff and I will miss working for them.

Review: MyPodcast.com

Just about everyone should know what a podcast is but if you do not know they are radio style talk shows that you can listen to. They are not streamed however, they are recorded and then you can download them and listen to them whenever you wish. You can listen on your computer or portable MP3 player like the iPod or Zune. If you are currently spending a lot of money on bandwidth for your podcast you may want to take a look at MyPodcast.com which offers a Free Podcast with unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth and free templates for your podcast.

If you do not currently have a podcast but have been thinking about starting one, this is where I suggest you start. After-All there is no better price than FREE. MyPodcast.com also has a method setup for you to make money through every download of your podcast. This program is still in the infant stages however they are displaying advertisements with every download and are going to share the pie with the podcast owner. Not many companies are willing to do this, they feel that if you are getting a free service all advertising revenue should go to them. This company is giving you a way to at least make a little bit of money from your hard work.

If you are looking for a central place to find podcasts to listen to, maybe you should head on over to MyPodcast.com. They have a way to search through all of the hosted podcasts to find just what you are looking for.

The Snow Storm

Van Covered in SnowOver yesterday I have to admit we got more snow than I thought we would. We ended up getting about 26-30″ of fresh snow just during yesterday’s snow storm. If you look at this van it is completely covered with snow. Look at the door handles and where they are in proportion to the snow. I have not seen snow this deep in a few years (except on Killington). The owner of this van is going to have one heck of a time digging the van out of the snow. I am going to have to do some digging but I am going to have to do some digging as well.

eGreetings.com: Heart Farts

HeartsToday I was browsing around and I ran across this valentines day card. I just love it lol. It is not a sweet and romantic card but it is a funny one. There are quite a few more funny cards on the site that you should really take a look at. These are all from the same site as the Cupid card I wrote about before. If you are looking for some free funny eCards head on over to eGreetings.com and see what they have to offer.

I love the fact that they are coming out with new cards very frequently. Now as I have said before you can get a 30-day trial at eGreetings.com but if you decide you want to keep the service it is only $13.99 per year… Yes that’s YEAR! You will also save money by sending eCards as opposed to the traditional cards that you would normally send. One thing that I forgot to mention last time is that every card you send can be personalized with a message and pictures. There are several features on this site that I absolutely love. It just keeps getting better and better.

If you have a few moments you need to watch the Chin Bloopers, it shows how some of the cards are made and it’s pretty humorous to watch.
